Volunteer for the YWCA

 

YWCA After School Program- serves Kindergarten through Fifth grade from Howe Elementary School.  The program is focused on at-risk children and aims to improve school performance, build self-esteem and self-respect, establish wholesome relationships and create a vision of a life outside of poverty. HOURS NEEDED Available Program Hours: Monday - Friday 2:45 to 6:00pm

YWCA Women's Closet- provides free work-appropriate clothing for low-income women who are in need. Gently used clothing is donated from local community members and then offered to women in need. The goal of the program is to prepare women for employment and boost their self-esteem by helping them "dress for success." HOURS NEEDED To sort through clothing Monday-Friday 9am-5pm  Hours of Operation: Tues, 1-4pm; Wednesday 3-6pm and Thursday 4-7pm

YWCA Women's Empowerment - provides assistance to women who are seeking employment or advancing their careers. The center provides vocational training and carries out a mentoring program to women in the community seeking a stable career. Volunteer mentors are matched up with women in need of job assistance. HOURS NEEDED Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

TechGYRLS- designed to nurture STEM areas (science, technology, engineering and math) in girls in grades four through eight.  The program, which has a special focus on at-risk and low-income girls, is typically held for 90 minutes after school time. HOURS NEEDED After school hours from 2:00pm to 5:00pm Monday-Friday
Maintenance- Our maintenance staff assists in keeping the facility and equipment well maintained and "as new" as possible. Cleaning rooms, floors, equipment and toys are part of the maintenance tasks.  HOURS NEEDED We are open from 6:30am to 8:00pm, times may vary according to needs.  We are flexible and willingly to accommodate hours.

Childcare - state licensed care for children ages 6 weeks to 4K in a family-like atmosphere.  The YWCA believes that a child's early years play a critical part in his or her overall development. HOURS NEEDED Hours of operation are from 6:30am to 6:00pm.  We are open to the times of volunteering between those hours.

Fitness / Pool Volunteers- contributes to the wellbeing of YWCA members by leading them through safe and productive exercises in a fitness class. This can include swimming, yoga, dance, gymnastics and other fitness activities.  Volunteers can help people grow in many ways that are consistent with the YWCA's mission of building body, mind and spirit. HOURS NEEDED: Open - the YWCA is open from 6:30am to 8:00pm.  Times and the needs of classes may change.

Member Service Desk-is the first thing costumers see when walking into the YWCA. We assist in providing excellent customer service to YWCA members by being a source of information and help.  HOURS NEEDED 8am-8pm Mon-Fri & 7am-11am Saturday

IT Department- An IT technician is a computer science professional who installs and removes software from computer systems and networks, diagnoses and repairs technical issues and plans, designs, implements and administers user networks for companies.
HOURS NEEDED The YWCA is open from 6:00am to 8:00pm, we are open to a flexible schedule
