Social Justice & Advocacy

Young People in a Conference Room, Social Justice, YWCA Greater Green Bay

YWCA Greater Green Bay uses the YWCA theory of change model to address our community's biggest challenges. This theory of change includes providing direct services to those most affected by the problem, education to those perpetuating and enabling the problem, and public policy advocacy to address the problem. Our goal is to support and empower the women of today and build a brighter future- without discrimination- for the women of tomorrow.

Our social justice program goals are to educate the people of Greater Green Bay about the ways discrimination shows up in our community today, ways they may be perpetuating or enabling racism and sexism, and ways we can work together to create a more just and inclusive future.

Our social justice programming is designed to meet people where they are and encourage cultural humility without blame or shame.

Young Diverse Group in a Discussion, Social Justice, YWCA Greater Green Bay

We remain rooted in rich history, but our approach to serving our clients is holistic, strategic and innovative.

Nationally, YWCA advocacy issues include lobbying for pay equity and hate crimes legislation, increased funding for Head Start and passing the Violence Against Women Act. Locally, through our programs, we are changing lives and restoring hope for women, their families, and our community!

Social Justice & Advocacy

The YWCA is committed to providing a wide variety of individual and community social justice education opportunities which promote equity in our increasingly diverse community and improve the quality of life for women of all ages, races, and faiths.

Community Conversations is a weekly Wednesday series where we illuminate issues involving race in our community and highlight the voices of people here who are making a difference. The series often takes the form of a webinar/interview, but we will occasionally share other resources that relate to timely issues or call our community to action around a topic.
